Suvarnabhumi airport today made an apology to passengers after a snake managed to slip into the airport’s passenger lounge and coiled at the wheel of a luggage trolley.

The airport’s apology came as a small snake was spotted by passengers while a female passenger was pushing a trolley loaded with three luggage on the way from Gate 3 to Gate 4 of the passenger lounge.

A brief panic broke at the lounge, forcing security guards to rush in at once.

It was found to be a snake and security guards quickly caught and took it away.

It later turned out to be not a poisonous snake but a 40-centimetre python.

In an apology statement today, the airport said the incident happened at about 01.52 am on Sunday at the second floor of the arrival lounge.

It said security guards managed to catch the small snake and later released it at proper place.

No passengers were harmed in the incident, it said.

It said the airport has in the past imposed clear and stringent measures to prevent all poisonous animals to slip into the airport’s buildings.

But in this case the snake is very small, it said and promised tightened measures to ensure safety and security for passengers in all aspects
