TAT to hold online Muay Thai contest

The Tourist Authority of Thailand has launched an online Muay Thai video contest with prizes worth millions of baht. The contest is designed to increase exposure of the Kingdom’s ‘Thainess” across the globe presenting niche-market products via social media.
Kobkran Wattanavrangkul, the Tourism and Sports Minister along with Thawatchai Arunyik the TAT governor and Bukaw Banchmek, a well known Thai boxer attended the launch of the ‘One and Only’ contest at the Peninsular Hotel in Bangkok. Bukaw Banchmek said that it was a honor to take part in the new online activity and was proud that the TAT were using kick boxing to promote the country.
The campaign covers a variety of topics, including “Thai Garland”, “Thai Dance”, “Thai Food” and “Speaking Thai Language”. The three teams voted to have the best Muay Thai video will win round-trip tickets and other prizes worth more than Bt1 million.
Applications for the “One and Only” contest are now being accepted from foreigners. Thais wishing to take part can register in May.
