Teachers appeal for donations after fire destroys school building in Nakhon Phanom

Teachers at a small primary school in Nakhon Phanom’s Pla Pak district are appealing for public donations after a school building was burned down on Wednesday night. The fire engulfed an old wooden building of Ban Kok School in Moo 5 village in Tambon Pla Pak of Nakhon Phanom’s Pla Pak district at 6pm. The fire happened on the eve of new school term on Thursday.
Firefighters took about an hour to control the blaze which damaged the building and education equipment inside.
The building, constructed in 1981, was used for teaching Grade 2 and Grade 6 students.
Teachers said although students can study in a new building, the school does not have the budget to buy new teaching aids and equipment and would appreciate public donations.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined.
