Tesco Lotus piloting No Bag Stores in Koh Samui and Phuket

Tesco Lotus Head of Public Affairs Charkrit Direkwattanachai has made a statement saying “we want to convince customers to shop without plastic bags. Hence we are piloting the No Bag Stores in Koh Samui and Phuket”.
No plastic bags will be available from the stores but reusable bags will be available for purchase. In order to encourage customers to join the spirit of “no bag” the company is offering 20 Green Points for a basket of shopping without using plastic bags through its Clubcard loyalty system. Clubcard points are converted to cash coupons and mailed to customers every quarter.
Another incentive planned is a 20 satang donation to local Wat schools for each no bag transaction.
The trial looks set to continue and will be rolled out to all stores in prime and tourist areas.
