Thai AirAsia flight from Bangkok to Nakhon Si Thammarat was delayed two hours after ground technicians discovered traces of airborne bird strike on one of its aircraft’s engine.

The Airbus A 320 plane Flight FD 3188 from Don Mueang international airport landed at Nakhon Si Thammarat airport at 8.00 am.

While the plane was rechecked before returning to Bangkok on Flight FD 3189 at 8.30 am, ground technicians detected bird strike traces on one of its engines.

Many bird feathers were found in the engine but there was no damage to the rotor blades.

However for safety reason, the flight was put off pending full safety inspection.

Nakhon Si Thammarat airport director Kittichai Sajjaluck said he was among passengers on the flight from Bangkok but did not notice any unusual sign of impact.

As the plane was rechecked before returning to Bangkok, then bird strike was detected.

He said only the feathers were fund while the body might be crushed by the high jet pressure with no remain be seen.

He said the airport will chase the birds every 15 minutes before the plane will land and take off for safety reason.
