Thai boy killed, Myanmar boy injured by border landmine

A Thai boy was fatally injured and his Myanmar friend was severely injured when they stepped on a landmine while picking wild mushrooms on the Myanmar side of the border across from Tak’s Prop Phra district on Saturday morning.
Police were informed that Pollawat Chomsaeng, 7, and nine friends had crossed the border from their Moo 4 village in Tambon Valley to pick wild mushrooms.
The sound of the blast when Pollawat and Maung Aye, 10, stepped on a landmine brought villagers to search for them and rush them to Prop Phra district hospital. Pollawat died on his way to the hospital and the Myanmar boy was admitted to the intensive care unit.
The area has a lot of wild mushrooms and the kids had already visited the site on Thursday.
