Thai drinker dead after downing a jug of beer at competition

A Thai man taking part in a beer drinking competition died after downing a whole jug

He staggered about, passed out and died, said a post on “Mor Lab Panda” on Facebook.
It was last Saturday. The poster said that he used to take part in drinking competitions but had retired as it was just too dangerous.
Sanook said that a while back there was a drinking contest in Isaan when a shop advertised free booze if you could polish off 25 shots in 25 seconds.

Channel 3 reported that the death was a first case in Thailand at a drinking competition. Dr Niphon Chinanonwet called it “alcohol intoxication” – a medical term.
Channel 3 said that 20-50 mg in the blood made you happy. But 50+ started to get serious.
Sanook said 400+ and you were likely to die.
Relatives of the deceased were preparing a funeral at Wat Suan Rom Baramee in Phitsanulok in Thailand’s north. They would not speak to reporters.
An investigation is underway into drinking competitions.
