Thai forestry officials to the rescue as householder cuts off his own foot

Thai forestry officials working in Nan province turned into rescuers after a blade on a hand held grass cutter came loose and sliced off a man’s left foot.
The team out planting trees and beautifying the area in Ban Nam Tha of the northern Thai province were alerted by the desperate screams of a neighbor who came rushing for help.
They were led to a nearby house where Duang Innanjai, 63, had suffered the loss of his foot while cutting grass. They desperately tried to staunch the blood flow and loaded him and his foot onto a pick-up.
But a tortuous journey ensued on the way to Na Meun Hospital. Due to the hilly terrain and monsoon rains it was two hours before they were able to get to doctors.
Thai Rath said that doctors were unsure whether they would be able to reattach the man’s foot.
