Thai man has been drinking his own urine for five years – he’s in fine fettle!

Daily News reporters went to meet a 44 year old Thai man who believes that drinking and using his own urine as an antiseptic is making him healthy.

He hasn’t needed to see a doctor in the last five years since taking up the practice – known as urotherapy.
Following posts on Facebook of Jaithungphut Siangjem using his own pee the reporters went to his place of work in Bang Pong, Ratchaburi.
There they saw many bottles of his urine of shades of yellow to dark brown.
He said that following health problems five years ago he turned to vegetarianism. His weight went from 100 kilograms to normal.
A friend recommended urine therapy and a trip to Mukdahan in the north east to meet “Dr Khiaw” set him on the urine path to health.
It tasted a bit strong at first but when he stopped eating strong tasting foods and adopted a vegetarian diet it became more palatable.
Apart from drinking it he applies it to his eyes, ears and nose and even showers and washes his hair with it.
His wife and children don’t use it apart from occasionally using it as an antiseptic. But they don’t condemn him for his beliefs.
He said what people think of him was their own right – he wasn’t forcing anyone to do like him, it was his own choice.
Thaivisa notes that the story followed one last week in which a poster on Facebook claimed that he put his urine in the broth for noodles sold to his customers.
No connection was drawn with that story.
Online searches show that urotherapy is a relatively mainstream practice throughout the world and many celebrities have hailed it as an answer to good health.
