Thai Massage Dr Happy denies he broke poor woman’s leg by stepping on her

Traditional Thai massage – where practitioners step and walk on people – is in the news after a poor food seller from Korat claims that her leg was broken. Pranorm Thiangtrong, 46, was seen on a YouTube video in tears and on crutches after she was stepped on by Kiatsak Chaiwimon, 21, also known as “Mor Pleum” or “Dr Happy”. Pranorm showed a Rayong hospital report that indicated her leg was broken at the neck of the femur. She said that her mother is old, her son is at school in P5 and her life is a mess as she cannot afford an operation that would cost 130,000 baht.

She went to the police following her massage by the son of a well known Thai massage practitioner in Rayong called “Mor Thewada” or “Dr Angel”. He is also known as “Dr Pack”. Kiatsak said it was true that Pranorm came in for treatment for a leg complaint. He denied breaking her leg and if the police issue a summons he will explain. So far the massage establishment is refusing to take any responsibility for what happened at the end of last year. Now the establishment may find themselves in more trouble. The Thai public health department plan to investigate the goings-on in Rayong, reported Channel 7. If they are shown to be offering medical treatment without a licence the owner could face 5 years in jail or a fine of 100,000 baht or both.
