Thai medical centers on full alert for deadly dengue fever

According to a report in the Nation Thai medical centers are on full alert for the treat of deadly dengue hemorrhagic fever after the disease left popular actor Tridsadee Sahawong in a critical condition.
The 37 year old actor is now undergoing treatment at the Ramathibodi Hospital, doctors have said that although he is responding to medication his condition remains critical.
According to Dr Opart Karnkawingpiong, the Disease Control Departments deputy director general, dengue haemorrhagic fever has killed 102 people this year and over 102,000 have gone down with the disease since January. In 2013 the disease infected 154,444 people and killed 136. It is believed that hot weather an intermittent rains have caused an increase in the breeding of the Aedes aegypti mosquito, the main carrier of the disease. There is no medical cure for dengue fever only palliative care. Despite efforts to develop a vaccine, there I currently nothing available on the market.
