The SKYBAR in Chaweng is nothing if not unique, perched high above the hustle and bustle of the vibrant streets below the SKYBAR is an oasis from the madness of Chaweng and a place we wanted to find out more about. We popped along to the bar to speak to Joakim and ask him the questions we all want answered about this very different entertainment venue.
Hey Joakim, thanks for speaking to us, can we begin by asking you how long the SKYBAR been open?
A. We opened up in February 2015 and we re-open for this season the 11th of December 2015.Q, Who owns/runs the SKYBAR?
A. The SKYBAR is a part of Chaweng SKYBAR & Hotel. We are 2 Swedish guys who runs the business but my business partner is mostly in Sweden. We have 8 hotel rooms, 4 double rooms and 4 triple rooms. At entrance floor we have a sports bar with 3 TV’s that show all major leagues and events. We also show all Swedish sports (because we owners are Swedish) In the sports bar we also have a pool-table and dart board. Free of charge, just buy something to drink.
Q. Why did you decide to offer the visitors and residents of Koh Samui a roof top location?
A. I have been coming for holidays since 2008 to Chaweng and Samui and all the bars they play very loud music and is mostly located at the busy beach road. If you want to take your girlfriend/wife to a nice place or want to have some drinks in a more relaxing atmosphere Chaweng was the wrong place. I have been looking for the right place for a couple of years before so I was very happy when we find this place.
Q. Tell us about your enthusiastic team
A. We have 2 cute girls, Pam and Micky (see picture) working in the sports bar and a Swedish friend Daniel is the bartender at SKYBAR. I usually be in the sports bar on weekends and in the SKYBAR at the evenings.
Q. What about dining? Do you have a menu?
A. We don’t have any kitchen but we have a deal with the nearby restaurants so they deliver the food to our bars free of charge. Then our customers don’t have to leave when they get hungry. We also arrange private parties at SKYBAR and catering food for them
Q. Other than your great offers, what is it that your regular customers love so much about your venue?
A. All our customers that comes up to the SKYBAR are surprised how nice it is and so relaxing. You don’t hear anything from the traffic, you always have a nice breeze from the wind and the music is in the background so you don’t have to scream when talking
A. You have a big parking near the police station 2 min walk
Q. What are your opening times?
A. SKYBAR opens 6pm all days except sundays when we open 8pm.
we close at earliest 11pm or when last customer leave. If the sign on the wall with the arrow and SKYBAR is lighted we still open!!
