Three injured in Phuket three-vehicle crash in Koh Kaew

Two men and a woman remain hospitalised after a three-vehicle accident on Phuket’s main highway early this morning (Mar 3).
At 5:15am this morning (Mar 3), Capt Kraisorn Boonprasop of Thalang Police Station was notified of the accident on the southbound lane of Thepkrasattri Rd close to Isuzu dealership in Koh Kaew.
Having arrived at the scene, police found a badly damaged Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck with its front completely ruined, a severely damaged Honda Wave motorcycle and a Toyota Yaris which also sustained heavy damage.
All three drives – Narongrit Roddum, 31, Pitiphan Jandee, 21, and Rompa Suwan, 55 – received injuries and were hospitalised. Two of them were taken to Vachira Phuket Hospital while the third one was taken to Bangkok Hospital.
“The preliminary investigation revealed that Mr Narongrit was driving his Isuzu D-Max pickup truck in parallel with Mr Pitiphan’s white Toyota Yaris with speed. Both vehicles were heading toward Phuket Town,” said Capt Boonprasop
“The pickup truck tried to switch to the right lane, while the Toyota tried to switch to the left lane, causing them to collide at speed. The pickup then collided with the motorcycle driven by Ms Rompa, who was riding back home from Pa Khlok area after selling sweets at the market,” the officer explained.
“The pickup truck then hit the electrical pole before spinning and hitting the central reservation, while the Yaris grazed against an electrical pole first before hitting a road sign,” he added.
No charges have been pressed against the drivers so far.
“Police are in the process of questioning the injured and checking nearby CCTV cameras to identify the true cause of the accident,” he added.
