Tightened security in Bangkok during New Year festival

Security will be tightened in Bangkok during the New Year festival with more soldiers deployed to ensure safety for the people and tourists.
Special attention will be given to 12 districts where foreign tourists frequently visit.
According to Maj-Gen Chalermpol Srisawat, commander of the Second Calvary Division of the Royal Guards, the 12 districts of the capital where special attention would be given to are Ratchatevi, Pathumwan, Sathorn, Yannawa, Bang Khorlaem, Klong Toey, Phra Khanong, Suan Luang, Prawes, Wattana, Bang Na and Bang Rak.
He said the tightened security during the festive season was instructed by the Peace Keeping Force Command.
On the part of the Second Calvary Division, it was tasked to tighten security in 12 districts which are densely populated, and are tourist attractions.
More troops will be deployed at these places, and foot patrols increased, in areas where many foreign tourists visit and stay to ensure peace and order, he said.
Coordination would also be sought from the private sector on high rise buildings, and CCTVs, in addition to erecting signboards seeking cooperation from the public to immediately report police and authorities if any suspicious object or people are spotted, he said.
