Tour bus driver fined 5,000 baht and suspended after letting son have a go at the wheel

The Department of Land Transport in Phuket responded to a social media post where a young boy was pictured on the lap of a tour bus driver.
A poster said they could not tolerate this situation as the boy took the wheel and played with his daddy’s phone.
The driver was summoned to HQ. He is Surachai Riaproi who was operating the Phuket to Songkhla service.
He was fined 5,000 baht and had his licence suspended for a month.
Bus company Pattalung Taksin Co Ltd were warned that any more breaches of regulations like this and they would have their licence to operate withdrawn.
Surachai said in an attempt at mitigation that he was taking his son to Pangnga and the bus was full.
He was not allowed to drive the vehicle by himself, said the father, who said he was monitoring his boy at all times.
