Trang father who admitted raping his daughter retracts confession – denies involvement

A father charged with raping his eight year old daughter in Trang appeared in court yesterday where he was remanded in custody.
Named as Kitisak Thongyoi, 33, he has now taken back his earlier admission of guilt saying he was under pressure and high stress.
Relatives of the man still hope that DNA evidence due out this week will set him free reported Manger Online.
Earlier in the week Kitisak had tried to commit suicide but was saved by police. Mental health personnel at a hospital where he was being treated initially refused to release him into police custody for his court appearance but after he recovered sufficiently they allowed him to leave.
He was visibly exhausted as police supported him into a police vehicle after his appearance Wednesday.
He has now said that he did not rape his daughter claiming he made the admission when he was under pressure and stress. Results of DNA tests taken from the victim are due out later this week.
His eight year old daughter died in hospital after she was given Krathom tea laced with YA Ba and raped. She died of the overdose. On her deathbed she had named a neighbor called “First” who police have yet to clear of involvement in the case. The father initially said that he was sleeping out back at the house and heard nothing.
