Tree Fall: Woman loses house to 100-year-old tree

A woman had a lucky escape this afternoon and was uninjured when a giant tree collapsed onto her house in Chai Nat province.
Sommana Kwansri, 59, said she was enjoying a meal in her kitchen on a windy day when her husband shouted from outside that the 100-year-old jambul plum tree nearby was falling onto their house. She was too scared to move, so she just stood there and prayed.
The kitchen area was not at all affected, and Sommana was miraculously unharmed.
Even though the house will take around half a million baht to rebuild, Sommana was grateful to still be alive.
Warut Jarunak, the Huay Grod district chief, along with officials, helped Sommana remove the tree from her home with a crane, reported Sanook.
