Trump’s monetary policy will affect Thai rice exports – exporters say

It urged the government to speedily clear it’s huge rice stocks to avoid affecting on rice prices.
Association President Charoen Laothammathat said exporters were concerned over President Donald Trump’s monetary policies which they said will surely affect the value of the US dollars.
This in turn could detrimentally affect the sale of Thai rice in international markets, he said.
He advised the government to speed up clearance of existing rice stocks to foreign markets to circumvent price variations that may arise.
In doing so, this in turn will allow domestic rice prices to be stabilized.
He also said that the country has set a target for rice exports in 2017 at 9.5 million tons, valued at US$4.3 billion.
Of these, approximately 4.6 million tons will be white rice, he added.
