Two under arrest for the trafficking of 53 people in Thailand

Two Thai men have been arrested on human trafficking charges after 53 foreign workers, thought to be Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar and Bangladesh were discovered in southern Thailand on a rubber plantation. They face up to ten years in jail if they are convicted. The police are still hunting for the leaders of what they believe to be a human trafficking gang.
Prayuth Chan-Ocha, the Prime Minister of Thailand has promised to prevent and suppress human trafficking in Thailand.
Hundreds and thousands of Rohingya have been forced to flee into Bangladesh, authorities believe that most of the 53 discovered in Thailand are a Muslim minority from Myanmar. The Rohingya have been described by the UN as one of the most persecuted minorities in the world and are not recognized by either Myanmar or Bangladesh. They are most at risk as they are considered stateless.
