Two bomb explosions rock in front of Siam Paragon

Two explosions rocked Siam Paragon sopping centre near the BTS’s Siam Square station sending night shoppers to run in panic, and forcing the BTS to suspend service at the station.
Initially the two explosions were thought to be from electric transformers, but after Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) police inspected the scene, they found explosive fragments of home-made bombs and believed the two bombs were planted near the transformers .
Nobody was injured in the explosions which went off at about 8.02 pm Sunday night near the second-floor connected walkway from Siam Paragon to Siam Square station.
Royal Thai Police spokesman Pol Lt-Gen Prawuthi Thavornsiri confirmed the explosions were caused by bombs, not by transformers as earlier believed.
Shortly after the explosions, Siam Paragon quietly advised customers to leave as it was going to close two hours ahead of schedule.
Sky train service was suspended half and hour to facilitate EOD police and soldiers to comb the area looking for more evidence, and clear the area of bombs before allowing service to continue Monday morning.
But BTS resumed before 9 pm just only its exit to Siam Paragon from Siam Square station was closed.
