Two Chinese nationals arrested with 900,000 pairs of fake brand sunglasses

On Wednesday officers from the Department of Special Investigation carried out dawn raids at several locations in China Town Bangkok. During the raid they seized almost 900,000 pairs of counterfeit Ray Bans, Oakley and Luis Vuitton sunglasses. Had the glasses been the genuine article they would have had a street value of over 125 million baht.
The two arrested, Ms Ton Ting Cu and Mr Hong Jee Zu were presented to the media on Thursday, both have been charged with possessing contraband goods. The police believe that the duo are part of a large scale counterfeiting operation from mainland China. Mr Hong has a previous charge in relation to fake goods. The DSI will be asking immigration to revoke the permission of stay for the duo to stay in Thailand.
