A Swiss banker has died in a Pattaya resort room. According to his wife he went to use the WC and fell down dead. Police and rescue workers were called and found 71 year old Charles Rene Castella face up next to the toilet with his underpants around his knees. No foul play is suspected. The deceased was a frequent visitor to Thailand who was taking regular medication for a heart condition he was due to return to Switzerland on Wednesday.

Meanwhile a 36 year old French national was found dead in a guest house in downtown Chiang Mai. Officers and medical personnel were called after resort staff had not seen or heard from their guest for several days. When they arrived at the guest house they noticed a foul smell around the second floor room. After trying and failing to force the door open a foundation worker managed to gain entry to the room via the window where he found the badly bloated corpse of Mr Alex Nseri aged 36, medical staff say he had been dead for around 3 days. There were no apparent injuries to the body and his valuables and possessions were still in the room. According to the guest house staff Mr. Nseri had rented his room on Tuesday 8th of March. His body has now been taken to the Maharaj Nakhorn Chiang Mai hospital for a detailed examination to establish the cause of death, which so far is thought to be disease.
