Two Italian tourists terrified as baht bus shot at several times in Pattaya

Two female Italian tourists were lucky to escape unharmed after a song thaew (baht bus) was shot at four or five times in an incident on Sukhumvit Road near the floating market in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Sanook called the incident damaging for the image of Pattaya and said that the two Italians were left terrified after crouching in the back of the vehicle to avoid being shot.
Baht bus driver Krisada, 28 said he was with his girlfriend and were hailed by the tourists to take them to their hotel in Na Jomtien at around 5 am on Sunday.
On Sukhumvit Road in the direction of Sattahip he saw a black four door pick-up tailgating him and then heard a sound as the vehicle tried to pass him on the right. He hurled a bottle at the pick-up and missed.
Then as the pick-up switched to the left four or five shots rang out from the pick-up and his rear left side tire was blown out. Police found evidence of other shots on the side of the baht bus.
Krisada said he stopped by the side of the road as his Italian passengers hit the floor of the vehicle in fear of their lives.
The pick-up then doubled back and slowed to observe the scene before heading back towards Pattaya.
Police found the tourists in a state of shock being comforted at the scene by Krisada and his girlfriend.
CCTV footage is being examined along the whole route of the baht bus to discover who might be responsible.
The service is Route 7 that normally plies between North and Central Pattaya.
