Two women who were captured on film dancing provocatively at Wat Chaiwatthanaram in Ayutthaya yesterday surrendered to the police. They have both apologized for inappropriately dancing in red dresses at the temple. The pair will be charged with obscene and offensive behavior at a cultural and religious site and face up to one month in prison and a ten thousand baht fine. According to Provincial Police Bureau Region 2 the women will be given bail in the court tomorrow, before being escorted back to the temple to perform an apology ritual.

The two women, Thannicha Nampanya, 27, and Nithikan Chotithanapongsathit, 30, told reporters that they had been at the temple for a photo shoot on June 12th that would net them 10,000 baht. Later on in the afternoon the while the crew were packing the pair decided to dance for a bit of fun and record it on their pone. The pair maintain they did not send the clip to anybody, despite it going viral on the net.
