The Ice Bar opened its chilly doors in March 2008 and very soon gained a reputation as one of the friendliest and quirkiest bars in Koh Samui. The bar is nothing if not unique, it is certainly different and has a lot more going on inside than most residents and visitors to the island realize.

Starting off with the cold section, the Ice Bar is your chance to get out of the hot and humid heat, don a cape and furry hat and cool off in the minus seven degrees Celsius. The walls, bar, sculptures and seats are made entirely of ice, as are the glasses you drink from, and no, there is little ice bar 1point having anything on the rocks here! This incredible 900 square meter bar has a life size ice tuk tuk, a great range of music and funky LED backlighting.

Getting slightly warmer, just outside the ice bar section is an indoor air-conditioned lounge bar that is the perfect place to enjoy a cold beer, cocktail or glass of wine in sleek and contemporary surroundings.

Getting a lot warmer outdoors you will find a fabulous outdoor tropical garden that has comfortable seating, a relaxing sofa, private bamboo salas, a wonderful ambiance, a pool table and despite being virtually in the heart of Chaweng it is very quiet. There are a couple more surprises in this area, one of which is a beer pong table. Beer pong, also known as Beirut, is a drinking game in which players throw a ping pong ball across a table with the intent of landing the ball in a cup of beer on the other end. The game typically consists of two teams of two players each with 10 cups set up in a ice bar 2triangle formation on each side. Each team then takes turns attempting to shoot ping pong balls into the opponent’s cups. If a ball lands in a cup (known as a ‘make’) the contents of that cup are consumed by the other team and the cup is removed from the table. The first team to eliminate all of the opponent’s cups is the winner! The other surprise here is Magic Lee who will add a certain je ne sais quoi to your evening with his close up magic tricks and balloon modeling.

The beer garden at the Ice Bar is a really great place to hang out and with you VIP Resident card that gives you and your friends free entry and 25% off your drinks, it is a really affordable place to hang out too. The lighting, the music, the layout and the atmosphere are all spot on and its big enough for up to sixty and small enough to still offer privacy if you fancy something more intimate.

The Ice Bar is a great place to hold parties, hen nights, stag nights and corporate events, and if there are any members of your family that have never experienced the chill of winter in Europe you are more than welcome to pop along and let them experience what cold is really like in the Ice Bar, this is a fabulous experience for kids who can only dream of ice and snow. It’s is a great fun classroom to teach the kids for Science and Geography teachers too!
