War on Drugs: 240,000 Thai youth need rehab

Chiang Mai News reported on a meeting chaired by the secretary of the Committee on Narcotics Control who revealed the extent of drug taking among young people in Thailand.
He said that 300,000 Thai people need drug rehabilitation. Of these 80% are drug users under the age of 24.
The main thrust of the anti-drug initiative is to stop the flow of drugs from Thailand’s immediate land neighbors.
Inter-country cooperation needs to be stepped up to stop the flow of drugs, said Niyom.
