Warnings of heavy rains issued to 30 provinces

The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has cautioned residents in 30 provinces around the country of dangers from heavy rains during this week.
DDPM Director-General Chatchai Promlert reported that recent downpours have caused flooding in Chiang Rai and Phayao. Currently, the two provinces are still receiving light showers while water levels have begun to subside. However, he revealed that from now until August 19, more heavy rains are predicted to hammer 30 provinces, consisting of 11 in the North, 8 in the Northeast, 2 in the Central Plains, 4 in the East and 5 in the South.
DDPM officials will be on standby in these areas to monitor the situation. Residents are encouraged to take precautions against possible dangers from accumulated rainfall and to strictly heed disaster warnings.
Anyone who is affected by disasters and is in need of assistance can contact the DDPM around the clock at hotline number 1784.
