At 04 p.m. LST today July 1st tropical storm “RUMBIA ” in the South China Sea was centered about 180 km. east of Hainan, China or at latitude 19.2 degrees North and longitude 112.3 degrees East with maximum sustained wind about 95 km/hr. This storm is moving northwest at about 30 km./hr. It is forecast to and make landfall at northern part of Hainan Island by tonight and then weaken. This storm is too far to affect Thailand, but people who need to travel to the southern China should prepare for the safety. However, during 1-5 July, the southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea and the Gulf of Thailand will intensify. More rain is likely over Thailand with about 2 meters in the Andaman Sea; all ships should proceed with caution.
