Website warns visitors to Thailand about dual pricing at tourist attractions

A website discovered by a Samui Times reader is opening the eyes of visitors to Thailand to dual pricing found at many attractions throughout the country.
“The intention of this website is to give foreigners the “Right to Choose”. We don’t think it is fair that some tourist attractions disguise the fact that they have a dual price system. Our opinion is that if they want to overcharge foreign tourists by as much as 200% then that is their decision. But, don’t do it in a way that is both sneaky and insulting.
The webmaster of this site is Thai and the editor is a travel writer. We both agree that the dual pricing system is hurting the image of both the tourism industry and Thailand itself. Thai people are internationally known for their kind and generous hospitality. The actions of a few tourist attractions are damaging that reputation. We respectfully request a transparent pricing system in Thailand.” Says the disclaimer at www.2pricethailand.com
The site gives numerous examples of where Thai nationals are expected to pay considerably less to visit attractions in the Kingdom than visitors and in some cases Thai nationals gain free entry. One page on the site claims that dual pricing is scaring visitors away, another that foreigners are being tricked into paying extra.
