Wife of man with gunshot head wound claims husband in suicide attempt

A 30-year-old man is in a coma with a 12-gauge bullet wound at his left temple following an alleged suicide attempt early this morning in Thalang.
At 6:30am today (November 29) police were alerted by Thalang Hospital that a 30-year-old man had been admitted early this morning with a gunshot wound to his head in what is thought to have been a suicide attempt.
Police learned that his body had since been transported to Vachira Phuket Hoapital.
A team of investigators, led by Pol Lt Col Sanich Nukong of Thalang Police visited the patient, named as Mr Ameed Utsaha, who was in a intensive care.
At the hospital police spoke with Ms Boonruay Aree, 44, who identified herself as the patient’s wife.
The woman told police that her husband had been complaining throughout the previous night, and while she was sleeping next to him, he reportedly turned a homemade 12-gauge gun onto his head and pulled the trigger, collapsing in a pool of his own blood on the couple’s bed.
That’s when she woke up and proceded to rush him to hospital, she said.
The incident reportedly happened at a house in the Ban Phru Somparn village of Thepkrattri’s Moo 8.
The woman was unable to clarify what the man might have been stressed about, leading him to shoot himself.
The investigation is continuing.
