Upon seeing her friend’s death, Ms. Sakonrat, who had sipped the coffee very slowly, immediately alerted neigbours and was rushed to Chonburi Hospital where she received life saving treatment.

After a month long investigation the police arrested Ms. Champatong, who confessed to the crime before being charged with murder and attempted murder.

Ms. Champatong told the police that she and her husband had been married for over ten years and had two children. She later learned that he had another woman and the couple had many arguments about this issue. She also claimed that her husband had beaten her and this was the main motivation for her crime. She admitted to making a mistake in her plot and later learned that her husband did not like the brand of coffee she had contaminated which is probably the reason he had not consumed the fatal beverage.
