Woman junk collector jailed 15 days for laying fake bomb

The PhraKhanong Court on Friday sentence a woman junk collector to 15 days in jail without suspension for laying a fake bomb at a power post at the mouth of Soi Pattanakarn 65 in Bangkok on April 1.
The woman, Sarapi Channongsuang, 54, a junk collector, was detained by military officers on April 2 for questioning after she was found in the footage of a closed-circuit television camera to be the person who laid the fake home-made bomb at that spot.
Mrs Sarapi confessed to laying the fake bomb, but said she had not intention of causing panic. She said she found a fake bomb inside a liquor box she picked from a garbage can. At the time, a garbage truck arrived. She left the box at the mouth of Soi Pattanakarn 65 and walked away.
She was brought to the prosecution on the same day and charged with violating Section 392 of the Criminal Code.
She was indicted in the Phra Khanong Court on Friday.
The court found her guilty as charged and sentenced her to 15 days in jail without suspension.
After the court’s verdict, she was taken to the central women’s prison at Bang Khen.
