Canadian Melonie Dodaro had never met her biological father. Her mother was a teenage mother her father a visitor to Canada from the Netherlands. All Melonie knew about her father was that his name was Cees De Johng and he was born on the March 2nd in either 1945, 46, or 47. He visited Canada in 1968, when he met her mother, Melonie was Melonie Dodaroborn in 1969. When a girlfriend asked Melonie if she was curious to meet her father, she realized that she was and finding him was something she really wanted to do in her lifetime. In order to track him down Melonie made a video and asked social media for help. Encouraged by the success of a friend who discovered she had a brother on Facebook she set about creating a video to tell the world she wanted to find her Dad and discover if she has any siblings and so she asked the world to help in finding her “long lost father”.

With De Jong being such a common name in the Netherlands many feared Melonie would never find her father but around 30,000 video views later a magazine editor in the Netherlands managed to track her father down. And then…….. her father called her for the first time in 47 years and said “Hello Melaine, this is Colin, your daddy”.

Colin De Johng may share is surname with many but his lifestyle he certainly does not, he lives in a mansion in Thailand, works as an Elvis impersonator and has two children named Elvis and Priscilla.

With her 47 year search finally over Melanie is planning to visit her father and says that she believes that social media is opening doors never possible before.
